「it doesn’t have to rhyme」

This project revolves around the remnants of dream imagery and the imagination of the city.

Each day before sunrise, I wander the streets, riversides, and surrounding forests of Paris, carrying the emotions left over from the previous night's dreams, in search of scenes that resonate with them.

The city that emerges in these images stems from my imagination -- false, bizarre, grotesque, oppressive, and yet tenderly romantic. These are the closest comfortable distances between me and the city.

Then, as the sun rises, the imagination fades, and I once again rejoin the millions of tourists in the city.

Even though this project records the city through the lens of documentary photography, its essence is a quest into my inner world.

「it doesn’t have to rhyme」is set to be exhibited at the Magnum Gallery in Paris in the middle of June 2024.
